Meet Bianca, a certified Pilates instructor and clinical naturopath based in Sydney, Australia. Recently a bride herself - WE couldn’t help but sit down with B & discuss her wedding and wellness!
Bianca is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to internal and external beauty/health. Her commitment to helping others transform physically, emotionally, and spiritually extends beyond movement. Raised in an Italian household, she learned the significance of homegrown produce, the potency of herbs, and the healing potential of food. Bianca is dedicated to sharing her knowledge in these two areas to inspire those around her to achieve their best selves. Lets dive in!
Bianca - Congratulations! You just tied the knot! We have to know how did Pilates and naturopathy work together to prepare you for your wedding day both internal and externally beauty?
“Thank you so much!!! It was seriously the best day ever!!! I am very fortunate to have a background in wellness - which I believe really did help set me up for my big day. I really made sure that I was sticking to my little wellness rituals taking my herbs daily (to combat any illnesses and support my nervou system) and also stuck to a consistent pilates practice that not only makes me feel good mentally but helps me feel my best physically too.”
What specific Pilates exercises do you recommend to improve posture and create a graceful presence for brides as they walk down the aisle?
“Omg pilates does it all!!!! I specifically love any extension work that helps to open your heart/ collor bones, whilst strengthening your upper back muscles. I have sooo many incredible classes online with @alomoves that focus on posture alignment that would suit!”
What were a few of your non negotiable rituals as your day approached?
“As the day approached I ensured I was having regular facials every 5 weeks with the skin faires @diandrapolitano this seriously changed my skin and helped sooo much!! I was also very consistent with my movement practice, vitamins and herbs to support my body in every way. The morning of my wedding I started the day with my daily meditation, gua sha practice, dry brushing and pilates with my bridesmaids! All these practices help me feel grounded and really set me up for our big day.”
For brides who may be new to Pilates, what advice or tips do you have for starting a Pilates practice and incorporating it into their wedding preparation timeline?
“Biggest advice is to begin!! Just start somewhere, begin with 20mins a day and increase to 30-40mins if working out from home. I have lots of great pilates classes with @alomoves that range in all different lengths and have specific targets. The major thing to remember is consistency is key. Stick to something you love and that gives you joy rather than something you do for punishment or that depletes your body. This will help reshape the way you think of exercise and make it something that you actually enjoy and look forward to doing each day. You can most definitely start to see a change in 2 weeks, but would highly encourage to start sooner. Find an accountability partner, a friend or family member that is willing to join you and commit to this lifestyle shift!”
What techniques do you suggest to help brides find inner calm and balance through the combination of Pilates and naturopathy amidst pre-wedding nerves?
“Pilates to me is a great way to get out of my head and into my body. To me its like a moving meditation that leaves me feeling energised, strong (in both body and mind) and more at peace within. Movement is also a great way to shift energy - especially if you have anxious or nervous energy in the lead up to your day! As a naturopath I was able to support my body with tools that help to balance my nervous system. These include: supplements for nervous system support (magnesium, B vitamins), herbs with adaptogens (they work like a warm hug for your nervous system, calming everything back to a steady state), saunas, getting out in nature/ daily sunshine, ocean swims, journaling/ gratitude practice and spending time with my loved ones.”
